Debbie is the Chief Executive Officer at Port Skills and Safety Ltd (PSS), the professional safety and skills membership organisation for ports. PSS works in collaboration with members to promote best practice and innovation, develop guidance, and deliver services, to drive continuous improvement in port safety and ensure a highly skilled workforce.

Debbie comes from a membership communications background and moved into the maritime sector in 2008. She joined the maritime professionals trade union Nautilus International as Deputy Head of Communications and went on to be the Head of Policy and Strategy. Debbie joined PSS as CEO in 2021 and oversaw the rebranding of the organisation in 2023. She has seen the organisation go from strength to strength, with membership numbers increasing year on year. In 2022, Debbie gained a Masters qualification in Economics, Governance and Public Policy with a dissertation on the effective governance of membership organisations.  

Prior to moving into the maritime sector, Debbie worked in communications in a number of different sectors including government, media, sport and third sector.

Debbie is also a charity Trustee for The Seafarers’ Charity and two other charities.
