Hi, I'm Millie Barnes, Operations Manager at ABP's Newport Bulk Terminal. I have been in the ports industry for four years, having graduated from Loughborough University in June 2022 and joined ABP's Port Management Graduate Scheme in the Humber later that year.

Over the following two years, I had the opportunity to work across a variety of ABP ports and gain experience in a range of different port operations. This gave me valuable insight into the breadth of the industry and played a key role in shaping my career.

In January 2025, I relocated to South Wales and joined Newport Bulk Terminal as an Assistant Operations Manager. I was delighted to take on the role of Operations Manager in June 2026.

I'm passionate about the ports industry and enjoy the variety that comes with working in operations, where no two days are ever the same. Outside of work, I'm a keen hockey player and currently play for Cardiff & Met Ladies. Sport has always been a big part of my life and has helped me develop many of the teamwork, resilience, and leadership skills that I bring into my professional role every day.
